Digital printing – the key to custom socks

Socks are necessities in our daily life. Their fashion trends and style gain increasing attention from us as we can afford more stuff. Digital printing helps to meet customers’ demand for custom socks, thus being a new approach to customization.

Whether patterns are enthusiastic sports stars or charming movie stars, marvellous comic characters or scenic oil paintings, these colorful images are fully presented on a pair of socks. Besides, they can be separated into two parts, with half on the left sock and the other on the right.

As for the function of three dimension printing, socks need to be wrapped on a round roller first. As the roller rotates, patters will be printed on the socks seamlessly.

Compared with the traditional craft of jacquard, digital printing helps to get over many difficulties that sock manufacturers face.

1 Excellent customization service

With a limit to colors of yarn, patterns knitted by the traditional craft of jacquard usually consist of 6 colors or less. If the patters get complicated, this craft is no longer available. As for digital printing, its biggest competitive edge is that manufacturers never worry about complicated color mix. Customers can order socks of one pattern but different colors. Patterns and colors are available to adjustment even when the sample is in production process.

2 No MOQ

As for custom socks, what customers need to do is sending patterns they like to manufacturers. Then their demands for unique style will be met. Digital printing make it possible that order starts at small number but high quality and customization can be ensured simultaneously.

3 Quick response to orders

A sock sample made by tradition craft of jacquard require 2 to 3 days. However digital printing shortens the time so that the sample can be finished within one day. This advantage lets potential customers spend less time hesitating and simplifies the process for completing a order.

4 Higher FPY

During digital printing, print heads spray inks directly on the surface of white socks. Meanwhile the traditional craft of jacquard uses many threads to knit patterns, especially when the patterns are complicated. This craft renders the inner side of the socks messy with many threads so that users’ feet might get hooked when they put on or take off socks. Digital printing solves this problem and increases FPY.

5 Great color retention

Many ask whether colors of those complicated patterns sprayed by digital printers would easily fade away. The answer is no. After ink-jet, socks are put into steamer for color retention and the chemical property of inks are stable. Thus there is no need to worry about colors.
